Hi, I'm a Creative Director in London, solving problems for a living.
I work mostly on sloggi, global Unilever brands, a few domestic accounts, and causes that I firmly believe in. Also, together with Kat, my extremely talented partner, we look after our agency placement program where we manage fresh young talent with the challenge of keeping their wide-eyed optimism about the industry.
I'm proud to say that our campaign for gender equality called #RedrawTheBalance for the charity Inspiring the Future has been recreated by the UN in different parts of the world and influenced the NHS to do further research on gender bias. The campaign has picked up a number of creative awards and a pair of gold Effies, which helped our office become UK's Effie agency of the year. It also got me on this list with the Mayor of London. We've carried the campaign forward since then and is now on its third year.
Going back to the subject of awards, some of my past work has also won gold Lions in Cannes; D&AD pencils; AdFest and AdStars grand prix; and all sorts of trophies from LIA, Epica, and Clio. Some of these were accomplished during my time in Manila and Bangkok where I helped my previous offices become most awarded agencies in their respective countries.
If awards bore you, I'm pleased to say that I also try other kinds of writing. I've had work published in anthologies and journals; and in 2010, I authored a short book of illustrated verse under High Chair publications entitled Riddle of Nowhere. I continue to pursue this kind of writing albeit more privately but I'm always willing to chat about it, unafraid of how pretentious it may sound.
All in all, I believe in getting things made, the ennobling quality of failure, and the enduring promise of the best-case scenario.
